TripAdvisor recently announced their annual Travelers’ Choice ‘Best of the Best’ rankings. To determine these rankings, TripAdvisor analyzes millions of user reviews submitted over the past year and identifies travelers’ favorite destinations for travel, food, culture, nature, and skiing. One of the lists details the most popular tourist destinations in the United States. Two towns in the Smokies made this list!
Gatlinburg was named the 18th most popular tourist destination in the United States, while neighboring Pigeon Forge was named the 20th most popular tourist destination in the United States. This is a huge honor, as they list was incredibly competitive!
In describing Gatlinburg, TripAdvisor wrote: "Gatlinburg, at the heart of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is an ideal base for a family looking to explore the park's numerous offerings. After you've gone hiking, fishing, rafting or horseback riding, ride an elevator 342 feet to the top of the Gatlinburg Space Needle for stunning views of the Smokies.
